CINCINNATI — The Chicago Cubs have acquired right-handed pitcher Kris Bryant from the Houston Astros, according to a report by ESPN.
The Cubs and Astros agreed to terms on a one-year deal with an invitation to Major League Baseball’s Winter Meetings in Florida, according the report.
The move comes just two weeks after Bryant pitched a perfect game in the first of three starts with the Astros, a win over the Chicago White Sox.
In six starts for the Astros since the All-Star break, Bryant has a 1.76 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched.
He’s 1-0 with a 1,000-inning season to his credit.
The Astros are in a position to offer Bryant a four-year contract worth $28 million if he opts to remain in Houston, the report said.ESPN’s Adam Rubin first reported the news.
