When a fan of Barcelona was granted a contract by Real Madrid, he did so with the hope of being able to see the club play a game.
The fan, who wishes to remain anonymous, contacted the Spanish football club and asked for his wish, which was granted by then-president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
“They asked me to sign the contract with Real Madrid,” he told Sport Italia.
“I did not want to give up, but the offer of a transfer fee of 500,000 euros was too high.
The club were also asking me to give my consent to leave Barcelona, and to go to the United States.”
However, he soon found out that the offer was too good to refuse.
“It was not as simple as asking to leave a club.
Real Madrid told me to go, and they told me that they wanted to make me a part of their squad,” the fan explained.
“Real Madrid said that they were interested in my career, but I told them that I was not interested.
They asked me for my consent, and then, I did not tell them what I wanted.
It was like a dream.””
I never expected to be asked to leave my beloved club,” he continued.
“But they told the press that they needed me in their squad.
And now I know that Real Madrid are willing to pay a lot for me.”
While the fan has now found a job as a flight attendant, he is not the only one to find his wish fulfilled.
A year ago, a man from Milan, who wished to remain unnamed, applied for a job with Inter Milan.
When he tried to get in touch with the club, the offer fell through, and the man was instead hired at a cheaper rate.
“They told me they needed to make sure I was a good fit for Inter,” the man said.
“At that moment I was in the market for a flight to Milan, and I was so worried about how the transfer would be structured that I called up Inter Milan.”
“They wanted me to join Inter, and that I had to be able to show that I could help the club to win games,” he added.
“My life in Milan was so hard, that I wanted to leave the city and live in the United Kingdom.”
While Real Madrid may be the club that helped the fan fulfil his dream, other fans are equally eager to fulfil their own.
When an official from the British Football Association made an offer for a footballer to represent England, many fans, like the one above, wanted to do the same.
According to the Telegraph, “The players were offered the opportunity to represent the country and make a profit.”
“They said they would have to take a lot of time to make a decision,” the football fan added.
Many football fans are not willing to take such risks.
“I want to join a team with a great history and have the chance to play in a Champions League,” one fan told the newspaper.
“When the offer came, I was tempted, but then I decided to reject it.”
“I was told that I would have the opportunity of playing for the national team, and when I said no, I would be in my country without a club,” the other fan added, describing the offer as a “no-brainer”.
“I’m not the biggest fan of the Spanish clubs, but when I hear the words ‘Champions League’ I can’t resist,” the second fan added of the possibility of making the move to a big club.
While it may seem that this is not a dream job, many football fans in the UK have chosen to accept the offer and are happy to accept a reduced salary.
