More than 2 million people in the US have jobs, with the number of people employed in the hospitality industry increasing by 10 percent in 2016.
The number of jobs in the industry grew by 14 percent from 2015 to 2016, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
The growth was attributed to an increase in new entrants and job openings in sectors such as restaurants and hotels.
But Houston is not the only city to have an increase of workers in hospitality, according the Bureau.
In the Dallas metro area, the number in 2016 increased by 1.3 percent.
In Los Angeles, the numbers were 0.7 percent and in San Francisco, they were 0,6 percent.
The US economy is currently at its weakest in five years.
The jobless rate, the official measure of joblessness, has been at 4.9 percent since October, according an analysis by the US Census Bureau.
