As Americans continue to pour into the job market, many are seeking the most competitive positions in an increasingly crowded field.
But one city is bucking the trend and opening its own digital recruitment firm.
The New York City office of the online recruitment firm CrowdStrike says it’s hiring 100 people in a matter of days, bringing its total to about 1,000 people.
In a blog post Monday, CrowdStrike said it hired its first full-time employee in the past week, and said it expects to open more positions within the next few months.
CrowdStrike was founded in 2010 and has over 20,000 employees worldwide.
The company says it has worked with more than 500 companies on hiring and retaining its workers.
New York is among the cities it says has seen a surge in job seekers.
Its unemployment rate has dropped below 5% in the last year, and the number of unemployed has dropped to its lowest level since 2007.
Many of those jobs are held by immigrants, who make up more than half of the city’s workforce.
