German employers will be able to hire permanent staff at German companies in 2019, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government said Wednesday.
“In the coming weeks, we are going to make the decision on how to create more jobs for Germans,” Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said in a speech.
The government plans to create over 1,000 jobs for foreign workers, mostly in the finance and energy sectors.
It is not clear how many of these jobs will go to Germans.
The government announced plans for a permanent quota of around 500,000 German jobs in 2018, but did not set a target for 2020.
